RUTILATED QUARTZ GEMSTONE

This variety of quartz is basically colourless in nature and is characterized by the presence of certain needle-like inclusions known as rutiles. Since rutile inclusions are mostly found in precious stones like sapphire, this distinguishing feature really called for some higher price and put it under rare gemstone category.

Similar looking rutile topaz is many a times confused to be this variety of quartz but the difference lies in the material of rutiles. Rutile is actually made of titanium oxide which can shine even brighter than diamond but the needle-like inclusions present in quartz are actually made of limonite which does not belong to mineral family even.

Rutile quartz will be highly included as compared to topaz with which it shares its name but has the aesthetic appeal of its own. Therefore, it is regarded as a separate gemstone and marketed in the same capacity.

This variety of quartz connects the user to god on a deeper level. The person feels a spiritual growth in himself and allows himself to get more involved in religious and spiritual activities. Since the person feels more blessed, the fears of rejection, loneliness, dejection do not loom over his mind and he feels more relaxed.

Madagascar, Sri Lanka, India, South Africa, Brazil, Switzerland and Germany are few of the places where considerable amount of rutilated quartz mining is done.

This gemstone can display its inclusions in their best form in rectangular table cut. Some oval smooth crystals also look beautiful displaying the rutile inclusions quite fabulously. It is an affordable gemstone and can be bough to give shape to a variety of designs that may attract the buyers immediately.

A very gory practice was followed in ancient times to maintain its magical powers. It was believed that if the gemstone was dipped in deer's blood and wrapped in buck's skin, it will remain effective for a very long time. Some people are able to ascertain its existence in ancient times in some areas of North Africa.
