Another variety Zambian Kyanite is green in colour and looks quite similar to Emerald in colour and appearance. Orange variety of this gemstone has an identity of its own and so is sold easily as rare gemstone without comparing it with any hefty-priced gemstone.
This stone is anisotropic in nature and displays two axes perpendicular to each other, a structural arrangement that is quite challenging even for experienced lapidaries. Moreover, it is quite strong at some points while very weak at other points making it very difficult to achieve precision cut. Hence, to avoid all sorts of mishaps, this stone is mostly developed en cabochon and finds relevant place in rings and other small-sized jewellery pieces where gemstone as a whole is employed. With the introduction of cutting tools with enhanced precision, other faceted cuts are now being tried by the lapidaries.
