KUNZITE GEMSTONE

Kunzite belongs to Spodumene family and is basically a silicate in chemical composition. This gemstone is more suitable for pendants, figurines and home decor pieces that actually make the house look very pretty interior wise. This stone is mostly used in pendants when used for making jewellery and is a popular pendant stone. This gemstone may lose its colour in direct sunlight and so is the preferred adornment material for evening parties.

Cutting this stone is challenging task for lapidaries but when achieved as desired, it is very alluring visual delight. Kunzite, when viewed from different angles, reflects varying range of colours and so holding it in particular position to achieve certain hue is a difficult aim to achieve. Another challenge lies in its distinct axial cleavage that makes it cumbersome for the lapidary to get a desired cut; reason - the probability of it getting broken into pieces is quite high.

Range of colours emitted are pale pink to violet and it easily attracts the eyes of gemstone lovers because of very brilliant radiance. Such clarity of stone and explicit reflection of various hues is quite compelling and people do not mind paying extra premium for the beauty that this gemstone is.

Kunzite is found mainly in two varieties - blue and yellow. If somebody offers you to buy 'rose kunzite' then do not get bowled over by the term as in reality you are simply being offered pink emerald of synthetic variety and there is nothing great about having it in your collection. Also, it is certainly not a rare gemstone and should not be bought for a high price.

This gemstone appears its best on treating with heat. You can expect an intense pink tone radiating from this gemstone when heated. Heat treatment also makes the brownish tone disappear significantly, thus, bringing more natural feel to the colour that it acquires.

Of the four Cs, colour of the Kunzite is considered first while making a purchase. Striking pink tone can fetch the seller desired price. The second factor worth considering is clarity. Those gemstones which are crystal clear and do not include any considerable inclusions are considered the finest in quality. Some interesting inclusions like needles are visible in certain varieties and such crystals are cut beautifully making needle look like natural part of the crystal.

San Diego, California gave the first deposits of Kunzite to the world. Currently, Afghanistan has the most prominent deposits and most of the demand is met by this country only. Other countries that mine kunzite at commercial level are USA, Madagascar and Brazil.

Those people who are lonely and are not able to respond to the love signals floating around are advised to wear Kunzite for better receptivity. These are used for better results in meditation and makes the wearer calmer.
